After the first edition which took place in September 2025, which brough together craftpeople from 4 GRADA DRAGODID (Croatia), Ambassada (Tinos Island, Greece), Gremi de Margers de Mallorca (Mallorca), INLAND (Spain), and ITLA ITALIA, Krastu Mastru encounter is back for spring 2026.
Krastu Mastru is an educational, research-based, exchange of practices and knowledge on the art of drystone making.
Krastu, a Sardinian term for identifying a stone, a rock, a boulder. Mastru, refers to a master of art and craft. Krastu Mastru is thus “a master stone,” a guide in the landscape.
Through the collective restoration of a retaining wall in an old vineyard under regeneration, the sharing of experiences and guided field trips, the purpose of the meeting is to learn the basics of the art of drystone work.
The meeting aims to convey the importance of this construction technique as part of a set of practices of landscape maintenance and care. In a collaborative and respectful working environment, the meeting is guided by expert craftpeople from different Mediterranean realities.
This second edition will bring together craftpeople from TERRACT (Cyprus), 4 GRADA DRAGODID (Croatia), ITLA ITALIA (Northwest Italy), FOGHILES (Sardinia).
